Collectable Radio & Electronic Equipment
These pages give details and pictures of a number of collectable items either owned by or of interest to me, Simon VK2UA. They are mainly of a commercial or military nature rather than amateur or domestic. I have picked units for which there is little information available on the internet because of rarity or lack of interest. I have also included details of an early computer that I once worked on. There are also some links to associated collectable radio web sites.
Kurrajong Radio Museum
Visit the web site of Australia's premier military Radio Museum for descriptions, circuits and pictures of 90 different sets from here and overseas. The museum is run by a fellow Australian collector, Ian O'Toole.
Radio Restoration
For those interested in restoring old radios, you can view and download a copy of Chris Parry's excellent book; "The Restoration of Valved HF Communications Receivers" from this site. The next edition is expected in mid-2007 which will include access to a library of pictures. Watch this space.
Early Gramophone, Radio & Phonograph Collection for Sale
A well known Australian collector of early communications equipment living in Sydney, Ric Havyatt, has decided to dispose of some of his fine collection of Gramophones, Radios and Phonographs. Individual items are being sold by private treaty. Click here to view the list of items for sale.
Anyone interested should contact Ric directly, phone (02) 9817 0337 or from overseas 061 2 98170337 to arrange inspection, or email: valaric at optusnet.com.au for details or photographs of any particular item.
HRSA "Radio Waves" Index
For those of you who are members of the Historical Radio Society of Australia (HRSA), I have created two indexes of the society's quarterly publication, "Radio Waves". These cover all issues from 1982 to the latest issue and are in two different sequences, chronological and by subject. The indexes are in PDF format and can be saved to your computer for viewing offline or printed directly using the Acrobat save or print functions. Use the Acrobat search function to find an item rather than searching visually; in this case you only need save one version. These indexes are now on the official HRSA web site.
For Sale & Wanted
